We are a family of three, myself, Tracy, hubbie, Jay and one gorgeous little two year old munchkin, Finn. My hubbie works fulltime and I am a stay at home mum. We've just moved into a wonderful new home, a two bed terrace we are transforming into a lovely little cottage-style home, backing onto acres of parkland. We would like to extend our little family to include one more little munchkin and for this we need to convert the attic. So our mission for 2010 is to save, save, save £20,000 to reach this goal.
So begins a year of extreme frugality...
Hoorah Kirsty is back with more homemade ideas [this time Christmas stylee] Tuesday and Wednesday on Channel 4 - let's see what fab ideas she has this time...
I have two small businesses: T Rex English: Proofreading and English lessons & Finny-Roo Designs: Homemade Cupcakes and Handmade Cards and Jewellery
Over the course of 2010 I want to save all the extra money I make from these businesses. I will record this on my blog to keep track...
Our Little Allotment
We've been given an allotment from the council for £20 p/year. ATM it is empty and so our challenge for 2010 is to become as self sufficient in veg as we can.
We're not allowed to grow fruit there [apparently it spreads too much] so from our little garden we will grow blueberries, strawberries, loganberries and possibly red/blackcurrants.
In the woods behind our house there are also blackberries growing wild so we will be foraging for those this spring/summer.
It'll be so lovely for Finn to grow up knowing where fruit and veg comes from and not thinking it is grown in Tesco!!
Toluna, iPoints and Lightspeed Points Collected
My first goal for 2010 is to have collected 80,000 Toluna points as this will get me £15 worth of Love2Shop vouchers which I will use to buy birthday or Christmas pressies. My second goal is to have 7400 iPoints as this will get me a £30 M&S Voucher [or 8000 points for a £30 Love2Shop voucher] again to be used for birthday or Christmas pressies.
My third goal is to have 5750 Lightspeed points as this will get me a £50 Toys R Us voucher.
I will update my balances as I complete new surveys, watch this space...

Scratchcard wins
Everyday Yahoo Games offer a free daily scratchcard where you are guaranteed to win between £0.10 and £100, there are two free cards on a Sunday. I will use these free cards everyday and on 31st December 2010, withdraw my winnings for the year. You have to deposit £10 to play [which you can withdraw at anytime] and today [my first day] I won 20p woohoo haha!! so my balance so far is £10.20! Watch this space one day I may win the £100 someone has to!
I also had a free scratchcard in the paper today and won £10 [minus £1.50 text message]. When this arrives I will add it to my savings total.
FREEBIES
I'm all for getting something for nothing, and getting post never seems to stop being exciting no matter how old you get! So anytime I find any cool freebies I'll post them on here. I'm going to challenge myself to get at least ten free things sent to me every month - hopefully some will be able to be used for pressies [is that being too frugal????]
Saturday 19th December: Free Moneywise Magazine [hopefully this will give me lots of new frugal ideas]
Sunday 20th December: 4 free tickets to see The Princess and the Frog [new Disney movie] on Sunday Jan 3rd via the Sunday Mail and SeeFilmFirst. This will be Finn's first cinema trip!

Ebay and Netmums
Both Ebay and Netmums have been fab in the past for selling on unwanted clutter. Another mission of mine this year will be to sell at least one unwanted item a month and the money made will go straight into our attic piggybank.
December 2009: sold an unwanted toy on Netmums for £4
Just a quick comment to say Hi.
